A 3D-modeling project inspired by the Jadeite Cabbage in the Taiwan National Palace Museum.
Tools used are:
- ZBrush for sculpting:
- an initial dynamics simulation of leaves folded around the hull shape
- refinement via curve tube brushes for natural vegetation stemming patterns
- details and leaf refinement via transpose and cloth simulation brushes
- Substance3D Painter for texture baking and overall material creation via layered detail buildup
- Uses normal and height maps for structure enhancement
- Uses thickness map for Subsurface Scattering (SSS) appearance
- Maya Arnold for final rendering
To-Do: Increase likeness to the Jadeite Cabbage. Namely, the original model features a Locust Bug -- also sculpted in jade -- in the leaves, and a holding stand. The former being a priority.
